The Annual Flag Unfurling & Pancake Breakfast! Presented by the Ottawa Police Service GLBT Liaison Committee.

This is a pay-what-you-can event, with all proceeds going to Camp Ten Oaks and Capital Pride.

The Embassy of Israel, in celebration of the 60th anniversary of independence this year, sponsors our opening night event.
Shared Values: A Film / Discussion Night
Film: "The Bubble", a 2006 Israeli film by Eytan Fox about a gay love story between an Israeli and Palestinian man. The title of the film refers to Tel-Aviv, a relatively peaceful city in a tumultuous region.
Discussion:Israeli media experts comment on Gay life in Israel. The discussion will feature Donny Inbar, arts correspondent in London and past editor-in-chief of two weeklies; Kolbo in Haifa and Ha’ir in Tel Aviv and the founding editor of the Ha’aretz online service.
The event is followed by a kosher reception sponsored by Black Fly.
All welcome - $10.00 at the door – all proceeds to Capital Pride.

Many here, in the GLBT community have died by different and sometimes violent means. This will be the day to celebrate life and to remember those that have passed before us. In keeping with the 2008 theme ‘Live Your Pride’ , we present a Queer Community Town hall event with Ottawa Centre MPP Yasir Naqvi, in partnership with EGALE Canada in an evening of discussion and camaraderie at Ottawa’s City Hall from 7-9pm followed by the 2nd Annual Human Right’s Candle Light Vigil at Elgin Street’s Human Right’s Monument 9:00 p.m.

The Self-Made Man: Trans Masculinities and Performing the (Im)possible
A public lecture by Professor Dan Irving
Professor Dan Irving will discuss Female-to-Male identities in relation to the idea of a "self-made man". What is a "self-made man"? Where does the idea come from? How is it used by trans activists? What are the social and political ramifications of talking as "self-made men"?
Dan Irving is a FTM scholar who works as an Assistant Professor in Sexuality Studies and Human Rights in the Institute of Interdisciplinary Studies at Carleton University.
